Luna Stripe is a woven cotton stripe, with bands of two or three widths set against a pale ground and the colour built into the yarn rather than printed on top. The face and the reverse are close enough that a curtain shows well from the garden as well as from the room. The cloth is crisp, flat and straightforward to work with.
One hundred per cent cotton, woven 137 centimetres wide, with a horizontal repeat of 22.8 centimetres and no vertical repeat, so nothing is lost on the drop. GP & J Baker list it for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads, which means it will take daily use. Four colourways: Blue/Green, Teal/Red, Blue and Green. Blue is the most useful of the four, while Teal/Red brings two colours into a scheme in a single cloth.
We use it for curtains and roman blinds, for loose covers on a sofa in a garden room, and for the seats of kitchen chairs. It is also the cloth we use to break up a room that has two florals in it. Pair it with a plain linen and one print from the House Small Prints book. It is also useful for a bed valance in a guest room. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
Set the stripe out on paper first: decide which band runs down the leading edge of each curtain and mirror it across the pair. With no vertical repeat, the only wastage is in matching at the seams. For a wide seat or a long bench, railroad the cloth so the stripe runs across it and you avoid a centre join.
