GP & J Baker | Pennington

Pennington is a mid-scale print from Signature Prints, printed on a mixed-fibre ground that combines the body of linen and cotton with the drape and light sheen of viscose. The design is drawn with the softness of the archive originals, and at 32 by 44 centimetres the repeat is easy to place on a window or a bed. It is a gentle print for a bedroom or a small sitting room rather than a statement. It is the print in the collection we reach for when a client wants softness and no strong colour.

The cloth is 44 per cent linen, 26 per cent cotton, 24 per cent viscose and 6 per cent polyester. It is 132 centimetres wide with a 32 centimetre vertical and 44 centimetre horizontal repeat, and it is specified for curtains and bedspreads. Two colourways: Ivory, a soft tonal reading on cream, and Soft Blue, a pale blue that suits a coastal or a country bedroom. Both are quiet enough to use on every window in a room.

We use it for bedroom curtains, for a roman blind in a bathroom, and for a bedspread with a plain border. Cushions in Soft Blue lift a cream sofa. Pair with plain linens and with Caldbeck or Moreton Trellis from the same collection on a chair. In a nursery it is one of the easiest fabrics in the range to live with, and a headboard in Ivory reads as a texture. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Allow one repeat per drop and match across widths. Line and interline curtains; the viscose content means it should be pressed on a cool setting from the reverse. It is not rated for upholstery. Dry clean only.
