Pumpkins is the softer, viscose-linen version of the pumpkin-vine print from GP & J Baker's Originals Brantwood collection, the naturalist archive named for Ruskin's house Brantwood on Coniston Water in the Lake District. The vine is drawn at a near-square 35 by 35 centimetre scale, close to its cotton sibling, but the viscose content gives the printed colour more sheen and the cloth a softer fall than a pure cotton ground would, better suited to a curtain that needs to move.
The cloth is 67 per cent viscose and 33 per cent linen, a blend chosen for drape rather than crispness, and it is 140 centimetres wide, with a 35 centimetre vertical and a 35 centimetre horizontal repeat that match almost exactly. GP & J Baker specify it for curtains and upholstery. Two colourways, Red/Green and Aqua; Red/Green is the warmer, more garden-like option, Aqua the cooler, more contemporary choice for a plainer, quieter room scheme.
We use it for curtains in a kitchen, garden room or hallway, where the vine motif feels at home, and it covers a lightly used chair or window seat well. It pairs naturally with Pumpkins Cotton in the same design, one for curtains with a softer fall and one for a crisper, more upholstery-ready piece in the same working scheme. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
Allow a full repeat per drop and match the print across widths so the vine continues cleanly at every seam. Line and interline curtains, since printed colour on a viscose-rich ground fades faster than a woven yarn-dyed cloth; for upholstery, plan the pattern placement with your workroom before cutting the finished piece.
