GP & J Baker | Senara

Senara is woven for the Chifu collection, which GP & J Baker built to celebrate its own heritage, adding a design from the archival Chifu pattern to some of the house's most iconic names. It is an archive design in spirit as much as fact: a fine cotton-polyester weave with a 44 by 34.5 centimetre repeat that reads as a closely worked, historic texture rather than a contemporary print, and the naming of the whole collection after it tells you how highly the house rates the original.

Composition is 88 per cent cotton and 12 per cent polyester, giving a firm, closely woven hand well suited to furniture as much as windows. It is 137 centimetres wide, with a 44 centimetre vertical and 34.5 centimetre horizontal repeat, and GP & J Baker specify it for curtains and both loose and fixed upholstery. There is one colourway, Sand, a warm, pale neutral.

We use Senara on a sofa or a pair of dining chairs where the archive texture can be felt as much as seen, and equally as curtains in a room built around the same warm neutral. It sits well with older furniture and brass, which suit its historic character, and a window seat base in Senara gives a room genuine period weight without introducing a pattern. There is no published rub count for Senara, so we would confirm current test data with your supplier before specifying heavy daily-use upholstery; treat it as reliable for curtains and lighter seating.
