Vintage Paisley takes its name from the familiar teardrop motif rather than from any specific archive source, the pattern drawn at a compact 14 by 23 centimetre repeat on a pure linen ground within the Portobello collection. The scale keeps the paisley motif dense and busy at close range while still settling into a calm, even texture read from across a room, useful wherever a scheme wants pattern without a large, dominant repeat.
The cloth is 100 per cent linen, printed rather than woven, which gives the paisley a soft, absorbed line typical of the collection's designs. It is 138 centimetres wide, with a 14 centimetre vertical and 23 centimetre horizontal repeat, and no rub count is stated, so treat it as suited to curtains and occasional rather than daily-use upholstery. Two colourways, Blue and Red; Blue is the cooler, more restrained choice, Red the warmer and more assertive of the two.
We use it for a pair of curtains in a bedroom or dressing room, where the dense repeat reads as an even pattern rather than a set of individual motifs, and it covers a small chair or footstool well at this compact scale. Pair Blue with white-painted woodwork and cool neutrals, and Red with cream and warm timber for a softer setting. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
Allow a full 14 centimetre repeat per drop and match the print carefully across widths, since a dense motif shows any misalignment at the seams more readily than a large-scale print. Line curtains as standard, and interline for a bright room to protect the printed colour from fading in strong sun. As no rub count is given, keep upholstery to lightly used pieces rather than a chair in daily service.
