Ziggy is the zigzag in House Small Prints II, drawn by hand rather than ruled, so the lines waver slightly and the wall keeps a little movement in it. The repeat is 13 centimetres vertically, small enough that the chevron reads as texture across a room and only shows itself as a chevron when you get close. It is the most graphic paper in the book and the one that sits most comfortably in a modern interior, though the drawing keeps it from feeling cold.
Printed on a 100 per cent non-woven ground, 52 centimetres wide, with a 13 centimetre vertical repeat. Five colourways: Blue, Aqua, Soft Red, Sand and Green. Sand is the near-neutral and the one we use when the paper is there to add texture rather than colour. Blue and Green are the strongest and take a whole room well. Aqua is the lightest, and Soft Red is the warmest, which makes it useful in a room that faces north and needs help.
We use a paper like this in a hall, a boot room, a study or a boy's bedroom, and it is very good on the inside of a cupboard or the back of a bookcase where a small graphic pattern gives depth. Hang it with plain woodwork and one strong plain at the window. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing to a full room.
Paste the wall, hang the lengths dry and butt the joints carefully, because a chevron shows a drifting seam more than a floral ever will. Set the first drop off a plumb line rather than a corner. Allow an extra repeat per drop for matching; at 13 centimetres the waste is small. A four metre wall at 2.6 metres high takes eight drops, so three rolls at the usual 10 metre roll length.
