Posy Print is a floral printed on pure linen, and the scale is the first thing to notice. It is a large, open repeat, so the flowers have room to breathe across the width and the design reads as a drawn composition rather than a dense all-over. The linen gives the print a soft, matt surface with the natural variation in the yarn showing through the colour, which keeps a floral of this size from looking too polished or too formal in a room.

The composition is 100% linen. The cloth is 137.45 cm (54") wide. The vertical repeat is 68.35 cm (26.85") and the horizontal repeat is 45.82 cm (18"), a large repeat that needs planning when you order. It comes from the Garden Walk collection by Lee Jofa and is recommended for curtains and upholstery. There are five colourways: Denim/Slate, Sand/Sky, Blue/Multi, Berry/Leaf and Aqua/Ivy, which range from restrained and cool to the more colourful Berry/Leaf.

We would use Posy Print for full-length curtains in a drawing room or a bedroom, where the height lets the repeat show properly. It would also work on a pair of upholstered armchairs or a sofa in a country sitting room, with Sand/Sky or Denim/Slate for a quieter result. For a pairing, we tend to choose a plain linen or a fine stripe in a neighbouring tone, which gives the eye somewhere to rest beside such a generous pattern.

With a repeat of nearly 69 cm, matching is the main practical consideration, and the quantity needed will be larger than the width alone suggests. Ask your workroom to calculate the drops and confirm the cloth before cutting. For upholstery, agree where the main flower sits on the back and seat before the first cut. Pure linen will relax and can shrink slightly, so we would recommend lining and interlining curtains and leaving them to hang before the hems are finished.
