Eldora is a jacquard from Lelièvre's Empreintes collection, woven on a viscose and polyester base with a touch of linen, in a large repeat that gives the cloth real scale and presence. At 69 centimetres vertical by 71 centimetres horizontal, the pattern is set by the weave itself rather than printed on top, so the motif has genuine depth and a soft sheen that shifts as you move past it. This is a fabric that sets the tone of a room rather than sitting quietly in the background.
Composition is 61 per cent viscose, 27 per cent polyester and 12 per cent linen, at a width of 140 centimetres. There are two colourways: Nacre, a soft pearl neutral, and Mordore, a warm burnished bronze-gold. Nacre keeps the jacquard's scale calm and works well where the room already has pattern elsewhere, while Mordore brings genuine warmth and reads beautifully against dark timber or aged brass fittings.
Given the scale of the repeat, we tend to keep Eldora for the pieces a scheme is built around: a pair of full-length curtains in a principal room, or a statement headboard, rather than small-scale upholstery where the pattern would be lost in the seams. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light, as a jacquard of this scale reads very differently under daylight and lamplight. Pair it with a plain velvet or bouclé to let the jacquard carry the pattern in the room.
With a repeat this large, always allow extra fabric for pattern matching across widths, particularly on a pair of curtains where the motif needs to line up at the join. We would brief the maker on the exact repeat before cutting and ask for a cutting plan that centres the motif on the window, which is worth the extra length it costs.
