Enchanté is a faux-uni cloth with a fine, close weave and a soft, slightly textured hand, substantial enough for upholstery, unlike most of the plains and sheers in this drop, which are curtain weight only. It reads as a plain from across the room but has just enough surface interest, up close, to avoid looking flat on a large piece of furniture.
It is 100 per cent FR polyester and rated to 50,000 Martindale rubs, so it is built for heavy domestic upholstery use as well as curtains and cushions, with flame-retardant performance built into the yarn. It is 140 centimetres wide, a standard run. Of the twelve colourways, we would point first to Naturel, Seigle and Amande, a soft sage green, as the most versatile neutrals, with Camel, Moka and Boise giving a warmer brown range, and Burgundy, Cerise and Nuit, a near-black, at the deeper, more decorative end.
We specify this on sofas and armchairs that need to earn their keep over years of use, on cushions that pick up a single accent colour from the range, and on curtains where a room wants the same tone repeated across more than one piece of furniture. It works particularly well against oak, linen and a plain wool rug. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
On upholstery, we would always check the fabric is railroaded correctly across a sofa back and cushions cut from the same length so the tone reads consistently, and given the 140 centimetre width, a competent upholsterer will plan the cutting layout before committing to quantity; as a rule of thumb, allow more than you think for a three-seat sofa with loose cushions.
