Lizzo | Bosquet

Bosquet is a flame-retardant jacquard curtain cloth from Lizzo's Les Jardins collection, woven in Trevira CS polyester with a semi-sheen finish. A botanical design is worked into the weave itself, leaves and branching stems drawn as a change of surface between matt and lustrous yarns rather than as a printed line, so the motif comes and goes with the light. The scale is generous, with a repeat well over a metre, and the effect at a full-height window is of a clipped grove seen through a soft haze.

It is 100 per cent flame-retardant Trevira CS polyester, at 165 grams per square metre, on a 325 centimetre width designed to be used turned, with the width becoming the drop. The repeat is 112 centimetres along the roll and 134 centimetres across it. Lizzo lists it for curtains and sheers only, so there is no rub-test figure. There are four numbered colourways, in a soft, low-contrast palette that keeps the design tonal; order by number.

We use Bosquet for full-length curtains in tall rooms, where the width means one continuous piece with no horizontal seam, and in hotels or apartments where an inherently flame-retardant cloth is required. It is light enough to hang unlined for a filtered look, or lined for privacy, and it sits comfortably behind a plain sofa or a wool on the chairs. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

Because the cloth is railroaded, you buy the width of the window, not the drop: a 3 metre wide window at double fullness needs about 6 metres, plus one 112 centimetre repeat per curtain so the pair can be matched at the leading edges, and drops up to around 3.1 metres finished need no join. It can be washed at 30 degrees on a mild cycle, which is useful in hospitality, though we would dry clean a lined pair.
