Bohemian Patchwork is a printed velvet from the Bohemian Travels range, a viscose pile carrying a patchwork of colour blocks rather than a single motif, so the surface has the pieced, layered look of a quilt without any actual seams. The viscose pile gives it a soft, slightly lustrous sheen that catches the light differently across each block of colour, and the effect is richer and more textural than a flat print could manage.
The composition is 84 per cent viscose and 16 per cent polyester. It is 144 centimetres wide, with an 86 centimetre vertical repeat and a full-width horizontal one, a genuinely large-scale design. Tested to 50,000 rubs on the Martindale scale, it is rated for upholstery as well as curtains and bedspreads. There is one colourway, Plum/Spice, a rich, warm mix that reads almost as an abstract when seen across a whole sofa rather than a cushion.
We would put this on a substantial sofa or a pair of deep armchairs, where the scale and the pile both have room to work, or use it as curtains in a room that can take a strong, warm colour. Keep everything else in the room plain: a linen wall, a wool carpet, a single plain cushion rather than a second pattern. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.
A making-up note: velvet has a pile direction, so mark it on every length and cut all panels the same way, or the colour will shift between them. With a repeat this size, allow at least one extra repeat per drop. Have it cleaned only by a specialist used to pile fabrics; dry clean only, never iron the face.
