Dress Circle takes its name from the best seats in an old theatre, and it has a little of that gilded, curtain-up glamour: a large-scale bohemian pattern woven rather than printed, with a whisper of silk in the yarn that catches the light along the pattern's outline. Linen and viscose make up the bulk of the cloth, which keeps the hand dry rather than slippery, while the silk lifts the whole thing just enough to feel special rather than everyday.

The composition is 66 per cent linen, 27 per cent viscose, 4 per cent polyester and 3 per cent silk. It is 130 centimetres wide, with a 65 centimetre repeat both vertically and horizontally, so the motif is generously scaled and needs a proper drop to show itself. It is recommended for curtains and bedspreads rather than seating. There is one colourway, Multi, which draws on several of the collection's colours at once rather than sitting in a single family.

This is a curtain cloth for a room that can take a large pattern: a drawing room or a principal bedroom, hung as a single generous pair rather than divided across several narrow windows. As a bedspread it turns a plain room into a finished one without needing anything else on the walls. Keep the rest of the scheme in plains. Sold by the half metre; order a sample to see it in your own light.

A making-up note: with a 65 centimetre repeat in both directions, allow a full extra repeat per drop and ask your maker to centre the motif on each curtain rather than let it fall arbitrarily. The silk content means it should never be steamed directly on the face; press only from the reverse, and have it dry cleaned professionally.
