Grand Mulberry Woodland is a large-scale scenic paper from the Country Walk wallpapers, a panorama of trees and dappled woodland drawn at mural scale rather than as a small repeating motif. It is printed on a non-woven base, which keeps a big pattern like this hanging flat and true, and it does the work of a piece of art on a wall rather than a background pattern.

The paper is 100 per cent non-woven, 140 centimetres wide, with a substantial 111 centimetre vertical repeat, which is what allows the trees to read as full height rather than cut off mid-trunk. There is one colourway, Summer, a full range of woodland greens with warm bark browns beneath, calibrated for the lighter, leafier end of the year rather than a bare winter wood.

We would use it on the one wall in a hall, a dining room or a principal bedroom that can carry a mural, keeping the other three walls in a plain paint pulled from the greens in the paper. It is not a pattern to use on all four walls of a small room. Sold by the roll; order a sample before committing, since scenic papers need to be seen at scale to judge the effect.

Because the repeat is so large and the design reads as a continuous scene, hanging needs planning before you cut a single length: work out the centre of the wall and the position of doors and windows first, and check the leaflet in the roll for the maker's own layout guide, paste and match instruction. Order rolls from the same batch and a little more than the wall measures, since a mural cannot be finished with an odd offcut.
