Jazz is a printed ikat from Mulberry's Festival book, with the soft, deliberately blurred edges of a traditionally dyed ikat translated onto a linen-blend cloth rather than woven thread by thread. The result has the energy the name promises: a loose, syncopated pattern that reads as movement rather than a fixed grid, and it changes character depending on how close you stand to it. It is printed rather than dyed thread by thread, which keeps the cost down while still capturing the ikat's characteristic soft-focus edge.

The composition is 40 per cent viscose, 35 per cent linen and 25 per cent cotton, which gives the cloth a soft, slightly slubby hand. It is 128 centimetres wide, with a 19 centimetre vertical repeat and a 26 centimetre horizontal one, and it is recommended for curtains and upholstery. There is one colourway, Indigo/Spice, pairing a deep blue ground with warm, burnt-orange accents that keep the print from feeling cold.

We would use it as curtains in a room that wants some energy, on a window seat, or on a single chair where a busy print earns its place as the one bold piece. It works well against a plain linen or wool in either the indigo or the spice tone, letting the print set the mood of the room.
