Paisley Stripe does exactly what its name suggests, setting a row of small paisley teardrops within a striped format rather than scattering them freely across the cloth, for Mulberry's Country Walk collection. The effect is more ordered and architectural than a conventional paisley, closer to a ribbon trim repeated at furnishing scale than a free-flowing print. Seen from a distance the two motifs merge into a single busy texture, and it is only on approach that the stripe and the paisley separate into their own distinct shapes.

The composition is 65 per cent linen and 35 per cent polyester, which gives the cloth a good, dry linen hand with rather less creasing than a pure linen. It is 128 centimetres wide, with a 33 centimetre vertical repeat and a 64 centimetre horizontal one. It is recommended for curtains. There is one colourway, Indigo/Red, pairing a deep blue ground with warm red paisleys picked out along each band.

We would use it as curtains in a bedroom, a study or a hallway, where its combination of stripe and paisley gives it more structure than a free-scattered print. It pairs well with a plain linen or wool in either the indigo or the red, and with Mulberry's other Country Walk prints in the same palette. A run of these curtains alongside a plain Country Walk linen makes an easy, coordinated scheme without every window needing the full print. Ask your maker to cut on the stripe rather than the selvedge, and to match the paisley bands carefully across any seam or a pair of curtains hung close together. The linen content means it will crease more readily than a pure synthetic, so avoid packing it tightly before it is made up. Dry clean only; do not wash, bleach or iron.
