Wild Things takes its name at face value: a loose scatter of creatures worked across a viscose and linen ground in the relaxed, unbuttoned spirit of Mulberry's Long Weekend collection. The viscose gives the cloth a soft lustre and a fluid, heavier drape than a plain linen would have, while the linen keeps the hand dry enough that the print sits crisply on the surface rather than sinking into it. It reads as a print for a house that does not take itself too seriously.

The cloth is 67 per cent viscose and 33 per cent linen, 138 centimetres wide, with a 98 centimetre vertical repeat and a full-width horizontal one, so each width carries the whole design across it without a seam showing through the motif. It is recommended for curtains, loose and fixed upholstery and bedspreads. There are four colourways: Woodsmoke is the smoky, easy neutral; Plum and Antique sit at the warmer end; and Teal is the coolest, the one we reach for first in a garden room.

We would put this on a pair of curtains in a garden room or a playroom that backs onto the garden, or on a window seat where children end up sitting more than the adults do. It also makes a cheerful loose cover for a small armchair, and a bedspread that needs little else in the room to keep it company. Pair it with a plain wool or a check elsewhere in the range. A making-up note: because the horizontal repeat runs the full width of the cloth, joins between widths fall where the motif allows rather than at a fixed point, so ask your maker to plan the layout before cutting. Allow one 98 centimetre repeat per drop for curtains. Line and interline for a good hang, and keep it away from strong sun. Dry clean only; do not wash, bleach or iron.
