Nina Campbell | BéJart

Bejart is a plain velvet with a permanently embossed texture, the pile pressed into a fine relief that gives a single colour depth and grain. It is named after Madeleine Bejart, co-founder of Moliere's theatre, and there is something suitably theatrical in a velvet that plays light this well.

It is woven in Italy from viscose and cotton with a little polyester, 136 centimetres wide at 615 grams per square metre.

Its Martindale figure of 100,000 rubs is exceptional, a velvet for the hardest-working sofas, dining chairs and family rooms, with the embossing hiding wear as gracefully as it catches light.
