Baroda is a woven velvet that takes its cue from antique Persian rugs, the patterning carried in the pile itself rather than printed on top. Rug-derived designs bring a particular density and balance, motifs locked into a settled overall order, and rendering them in velvet gives the surface depth that shifts as the pile catches light.

It is woven in India from viscose and cotton with a little polyester, 136 centimetres wide, and is emphatically substantial at 890 grams per square metre.

A 50,000 rub Martindale rating makes it one for the hardest-working seats in the house, sofas, club chairs, ottomans, and its weight suits upholstery better than all but the heaviest curtain schemes.
