Bibury reworks a small-scale trailing floral found on an antique block-printed wallpaper, its stems wandering across the cloth with the slightly irregular rhythm that hand-blocked patterns carry. The scale is intimate, made to be read at close range, and the repeat keeps a gentle, unforced movement.
The cloth is a linen and cotton union with a little polyamide for strength, woven at 140 centimetres and printed in the United Kingdom. A rub test of 95,000 puts it comfortably beyond contract grade, so it upholsters sofas and chairs in daily use as readily as it makes up into curtains and blinds. A pattern this size sits well on smaller pieces, a bedroom chair, a headboard, a stool, where larger designs would lose their bearings.
