Calypso is a semi-plain built from small polka dots whose tone deepens and lightens across the width of the cloth, an ombré that moves the way music does, which is fitting for a design named for the rhythms of the Caribbean. From a distance it reads as a softly graded plain; up close, the dots keep it playful.
Woven in India from cotton and polyester at 134 centimetres, it has a rub test of 18,000, suited to curtains, blinds, cushions and occasional upholstery. The cross-width shading is a gift at the window, where each fold catches a slightly different depth of tone.
