Cardot is a plain boucle with a deliberately irregular surface, the looped yarn raising a soft, pebbled texture that keeps a single colour from ever looking flat. It is drawn in an array of colours designed to co-ordinate across the collection, which makes it a natural companion cloth to the patterns around it.
Woven in Italy from cotton and viscose with a supporting synthetic content, it is genuinely heavy at 714 grams per square metre and 142 centimetres wide, a cloth with real body.
Rated at 35,000 Martindale rubs, it is built for proper everyday upholstery, sofas included, and the texture is most persuasive on curved, upholstered forms that let the boucle catch the light.
