Chautard builds a textural check from squares and rectangles of ottoman weave, set against a soft chenille ground. The pattern works entirely through relief and light, ribbed passages against plush ones, so it reads as a check even at a glance and as a landscape of texture up close.
Woven in Italy at 144 centimetres, it is a deep, substantial cloth at 600 grams per square metre, blending viscose, cotton, polyester and linen. A rub test of 25,000 suits it to occasional chairs, stools and cushions, where the play of surfaces can be felt as well as seen.
