Clarice layers delicately embroidered sycamore leaves over an all-over leaf pattern hand-printed on pure linen, the two techniques together giving the cloth a genuinely artisanal character. It is named after Clarice Cliff, the celebrated English ceramicist, and shares her feeling for pattern that is decorative without losing its craft.
Hand-printed and embroidered in India at 134 centimetres, the linen ground carries a little viscose in the stitching and weighs 260 grams per square metre. As an embroidered cloth it is best suited to curtains, blinds and cushions, and to occasional chairs where the raised stitching will not be subjected to daily wear.
