Colbert is a print of stylised leaf formations taken from a 1930s design, the foliage drawn with the graphic confidence of that decade. It borrows its name from Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Louis XIV's Minister of Finance and a founding force behind the Compagnie des Indes, a fitting patron for a pattern with trade-route glamour.
Printed in the United Kingdom on a viscose and linen ground at 140 centimetres, the cloth has a soft lustre that flatters the drawing. A rub test of 30,000 makes it usable well beyond curtains, occasional chairs, loose covers and cushions included.
