Nina Campbell | Crepe Rouche

Crepe Rouche is a gathered ruche, four centimetres deep, from the small collection of gimps, ruches, borders and a co-ordinating curtain embrasse that Nina Campbell drew up in the key colours of her decorative palette. The family was conceived to finish the fabrics of her Woodsford and Woodsford Weaves collections, and sits happily with many of her other recent cloths.

It is made in Switzerland from a viscose-rich blend with a little polyester, the gathering giving it a soft, ruffled profile rather than a flat band. A ruche of this kind is for edges that want gentleness, cushion seams, the leading edge of curtains, lampshades and headboards, where a crisp border would feel too severe.
