Nina Campbell | Drummond

Drummond is a harlequin pattern of diamonds woven in silk and viscose, the lozenges tilting across the cloth with the theatrical geometry the name promises. The silk content catches light along each facet, so the pattern glints and shifts as the viewing angle changes.

Woven in India at 142 centimetres, the cloth combines silk's dry lustre with the fluid drape of viscose, and is best treated as decorative, curtains, blinds, cushions, panels and the occasional chair kept from hard service. In an evening room the diamonds do their finest work, answering candlelight with quiet flashes.
