Dumas is a flame stitch woven in two contrasting space-dyed yarns, the zigzag peaks flickering as each yarn shifts tone along its length. The effect is livelier than a printed chevron, the colour breaking and recombining so no two repeats read quite the same.
Woven in Italy from cotton, viscose and linen at 138 centimetres, it is a substantial cloth with a rub test of 18,000, suited to general domestic upholstery, occasional chairs, ottomans, benches, and to curtains with body. Flame stitches are old upholstery friends; a single chair or a run of dining seats in it wakes a room of plains.
