Flyte arranges small velvet hexagons into vertical stripes, interspersed with zig-zag bands that give the geometry a lively, almost musical rhythm. The name is borrowed from the family of Lord Marchmain in Brideshead Revisited, and the design carries something of that between-the-wars glamour.

Woven in India at 133 centimetres from a blend of viscose and cotton, the velvet has a dense, soft pile and a settled weight of 520 grams per square metre. A Martindale result of 60,000 rubs means it is thoroughly suited to general domestic upholstery — chairs, stools and sofas — as well as cushions, where the cut pile brings depth and a gentle sheen to a scheme.
