Foret is an enchanted woodland told in painterly silhouette, trees, plants, animals and birds drawn as shapes rather than portraits. Working in silhouette lets the scene stay rich without becoming busy; the creatures are found gradually, the way things are found in real woods, and the design keeps a storybook quality that never tips into whimsy.
The cloth is woven in the United Kingdom from 60 per cent linen with cotton and polyamide, 140 centimetres wide at 288 grams per square metre.
A Martindale rating of 50,000 rubs puts it firmly in serious upholstery territory, sofas, family rooms, window seats, and it makes curtains with real presence, the woodland running full height.
