Geneviève is a bramble rose, its decorative leaves holding small budding sprigs, reproduced faithfully from an archive document so the drawing keeps the slightly naive charm of the original. It is printed on pure linen, which gives the colour a soft, chalky quality and lets the texture of the cloth show through the design. Of the Dauphine prints it is the most romantic and the most English in feeling.

The linen is printed in the United Kingdom and is 140 centimetres wide with a 45 centimetre vertical and 47 centimetre horizontal repeat, a generous scale that suits full-length curtains and larger cushions. At 245 grams per square metre it is a medium weight, and with an 18,000 rub rating it is suitable for curtains, blinds, cushions and occasional upholstery such as a bedroom chair or a dressing-table stool. It complies with BS 5852 cigarette for upholstery.

Four colourways, each on an ivory or linen ground: Teal / Coral / Ivory is the liveliest; Taupe / Antique Rose / Linen the softest and the one that sits most quietly in a neutral scheme; Yellow / Sage / Ivory is fresh and spring-like; Green / Blue / Ivory is cool and classic. The design has a matching wallpaper in the same four colourways, and the two are made to be used together, paper on the walls and fabric at the window, or curtains alone against a plain painted room. Printed linens soften with use and take on a gentle, lived-in character, which suits this design particularly well. Geneviève should be lined for curtains and we would recommend interlining in a cold room. It pairs naturally with the plainer Rannoch Wools from Osborne & Little for a country scheme with some weight to it.
