Nina Campbell | Isabena

Isabena is a self-coloured panel of diamonds and stripes, the pattern woven tone on tone so it registers as structure and shadow rather than contrast. Panels of this kind carry their geometry quietly; the design is present in raking light and almost dissolves in flat light, which is what makes it easy to live with.

It is woven in India from cotton and linen with a measure of polyester, 136 centimetres wide, the natural fibres giving it a dry, honest hand.

It was conceived for curtains and cushions, and that is where it belongs, at the window the woven panel reads as discreet architecture, and on cushions it brings texture without adding another colour.
