Kingham is a tonal weave with a trompe-l'oeil plissé effect, the surface appearing softly pleated while lying perfectly flat, ombré colour drifting through neutral shades along the illusion. It is quiet trickery, texture conjured out of tone.
Woven in India from polyester and linen at 138 centimetres, it is far more rugged than its subtlety suggests, a rub test of 100,000 placing it comfortably at contract grade, sofas in daily service, dining chairs, window seats, banquettes. For rooms that want interest without pattern, a plissé that never creases is a very serviceable answer.
