La Moulade weaves stylised roundels and small diamonds into an intricate jacquard, the two motifs alternating in a steady, mosaic-like rhythm. The name is borrowed from Matisse, who used it as the title for several of his coastal landscape paintings, and there is something of that painterly ease in the way the geometry sits on the cloth.
Woven in Turkey from viscose and polyester at 134 centimetres, it is a substantial cloth with a soft surface and good body. A rub test of 18,000 covers general domestic upholstery, occasional chairs, ottomans, headboards, alongside curtains and cushions. The small, even repeat cuts economically and sits well on buttoned or curved pieces.
