Majorelle frames stylised flowers, exotic paisley leaves and painterly stitch-marks reminiscent of suzani designs within a trellis of buds and foliage, so the pattern has both structure and abundance, the trellis holding the exuberance in order. It is printed on pure linen, and the stitch-like drawing gives it the feel of a textile remembered rather than copied.
It is printed in India on 100 per cent linen, 140 centimetres wide at 243 grams per square metre.
It makes generous curtains and blinds, where the trellis reads at full height, and suits cushions, headboards and occasional upholstery.
