Marden lays horizontal daubs of colour into a subtle lattice, so the cloth reads like a landscape painting seen at a distance, brushmarks gathering into order. It is woven with a notably soft handle, texture doing the work that pattern usually does.
It is woven in Turkey from 52 per cent wool with cotton, polyamide and polyester, 134 centimetres wide and substantial at 620 grams per square metre.
