Montrose is a grand scrolling damask outlined with gilding, the traditional pattern drawn at confident scale and edged in metallic line, so the scrollwork is lifted from its ground the way gilt lifts a picture frame. It is the most formal register of the collection, damask worn with full dress rather than undone.
