Quechua depicts a paisley in the finest detail, the motif drawn with an intricacy that only pure silk can carry, every curl and filament kept crisp. The name belongs to the people of the central Andes and their language, and the pattern has the layered richness of a long weaving tradition.

Woven in China from pure silk at 138 centimetres, it is a cloth for decoration rather than duty: curtains that fall in slender folds, cushions, lampshades, panels behind glass. Silk takes colour and light unlike any other fibre, and here the fine drawing rewards a close look, so place it where it can be seen at hand's reach.
