Nina Campbell | Snowshill Meadow

Snowshill Meadow reinterprets an archival floral in intricate embroidery, scattered poppies, clover, daisies and grasses worked in stitch across a linen herringbone ground, carrying the colour and abundance of a summer meadow. The herringbone gives the ground its own quiet grain, and the embroidery sits on it with real relief, flowers to be touched as well as seen.

It is embroidered in India on a cloth of 68 per cent linen and 32 per cent viscose, 135 centimetres wide at 354 grams per square metre.

Embroidery of this density is best where it is admired rather than worn, curtains, blinds, cushions and headboards, with upholstery kept to occasional chairs.
