Sudbury embroiders large decorative acanthus leaves, interspersed with flowers and foliage, on a herringbone ground, so the grandest of classical leaf motifs is delivered in stitch with genuine relief. The herringbone beneath gives the ground its own quiet grain.
It is embroidered in India on a mixed cloth of polyester, linen, cotton and viscose, 125 centimetres wide at 275 grams per square metre.
As with most embroideries, it is best where the handwork is seen and gently treated, curtains, blinds, cushions and headboards, with upholstery kept to occasional chairs.
