Suzhou takes its name from a famous garden city, and the design honours it with a bouquet of sweet peas accompanied by a vertical garland border of the same flowers. The pairing of loose bouquet and disciplined border gives the cloth two registers at once, informal in the field, orderly at the edge.

It is printed in the United Kingdom on pure cotton, 140 centimetres wide, with the crisp surface and clean drawing cotton prints do best.

A Martindale rating of 35,000 rubs makes it thoroughly usable for everyday upholstery as well as curtains and blinds, where the garland border can be run deliberately down a leading edge.
