Nina Campbell | Vignola

Vignola draws an ogee trellis in metallic thread on a contrasting ground, the framework of the design glinting against the matt cloth behind it. Named after the sixteenth-century Italian architect, it has an architectural logic, the ogee arches stacking into a pattern that is both ordered and ornamental.

Woven in India from polyester, metallic yarn and viscose at 130 centimetres, it is a decorative cloth first and foremost, made for curtains, blinds, cushions and panels where the thread can catch the light. In an evening room, lit low, the trellis comes alive; by day it settles back into quiet geometry.
