Berkeley is a textured semi-plain that borrows the manner of an old, well-loved cloth: chenille yarns in tonal colourings are crossed with broken horizontal lines, so the surface appears gently worn rather than freshly woven. The effect is a plain with a past.
Woven in Italy from viscose, cotton, polyester and linen, it is 143 centimetres wide and a substantial 600gsm. Its rub test of 16,000 keeps it to curtains and blinds, where the weight will give a full, sculptural drape and the vintage surface can be read at close quarters.
