Catalina is a deep-pile mohair velvet, the fibre prized among velvet-makers for its spring, its lustre and the way it recovers from a hand pressed into it. There is no pattern; the pile itself is the whole story.
Woven in Belgium from mohair with cotton, it is 141 centimetres wide and a dense 714gsm. A rub test result of 100,000 makes it an exceptionally hard-working velvet, the kind to put on a sofa that is sat in every evening and expect to look better, not worse, a decade on.
