Craquelure is a plain drawn over with fine-lined self-coloured diamonds in relief, so the geometry is present as a whisper, caught in raking light and lost again straight on. The effect recalls the fine cracking of an old glaze, from which the design takes its name.
Woven in India from polyester with silk and acrylic, it is 138 centimetres wide and 43.1gsm. Without a published abrasion result it is best kept to curtains and blinds, where the silk content lends a gentle lustre to the folds.
