Damsay is a tonal weave with the appearance and handle of soft hessian, the honest, dry character of a sackcloth refined for furnishing use. It takes its name from an uninhabited islet, once the site of a Norse hall.
Woven in India entirely from polyester, it is 140 centimetres wide and 60.2gsm, so the rustic look comes without the weight or fragility of true hessian. A rub test result of 100,000 makes it a thoroughly hard-working cloth, as suited to everyday sofas and chairs as it is to curtains and blinds.
