Skerry is a finely woven two-tone basketweave, its interlacing yarns of contrasting shade giving the cloth a quiet chequered grain. The name comes from the Pentland Skerries, the small uninhabited islands lying between the Scottish mainland and the larger islands of the Orkneys.
Woven in India from viscose with cotton and linen, it is 140 centimetres wide and 63.7gsm. A rub test result of 75,000 makes it a hard-working upholstery cloth, comfortable on sofas and chairs in daily use, and the fine weave also hangs neatly as a tailored curtain.
