Taos Stripe gathers ivory yarns and embroiders them onto coloured plain-weave grounds, the raised rows forming vertical stripes that resemble strings of cowry shells. The stripe is built by hand rather than drawn, so each line carries a soft, beaded relief.
Made in India on a ground of linen and cotton with polyester at 440 grams per metre, it has a dry natural handle with the gathered embroidery standing above it. It is best where the handwork is seen and gently used: curtains, blinds, headboards, cushions and occasional upholstery, with the 129cm width shaping well around smaller pieces.
