Totem arranges stylised leaves and geometric patterns into colourful stripe formations, stacked with the rhythm of a totem pole. The design is realised in embroidery and appliqué with running-stitch details, so the pattern is built up in layers of real material and thread.
Made in India on a cotton and linen ground at 430 grams per metre, it has a substantial handle with the applied work raised across its surface. It is best where the making can be seen and treated kindly: curtains, blinds, headboards, cushions and occasional upholstery, with the 127cm width framing the stacked design neatly.
