Alhambra asks what the palace would be without its mashrabiya screens, and answers in wool: the rug takes those timeless pierced motifs and fills them with an evocation of lush vegetation glimpsed through the latticework. Two versions exist, each conceived around the character of a season — autumn and winter — so the same architecture carries two moods.
