Pierre Frey | Alizon

Alizon is an openwork velvet carrying a pattern of flowering branches and pineapple, reproduced from a textile in the Musée de la Toile de Jouy known simply as 'Pineapple'. The original was printed from a wooden board around 1777 and used for furnishing; here the design returns in pile, the openwork giving the motif light and shadow the flat print never had. An eighteenth-century document, re-imagined in a technique worthy of it.
